If you work with young people in the region, then you might be interested in Reaching for Gold.

Reaching for Gold is a new competition to encourage innovation and creativity in young people (14-19 year olds), particularly those living or working with disadvantage or disability.

Teams of young people are encouraged to enter, through Community & Voluntary Organisations and/or schools they are linked into. The competition is now 'open for applications' and will close at 5pm on the 21st August 2009.

What's in it for you? Nine groups will be selected and each given an empowerment package of prizes to facilitate the idea development stage, including a Toshiba NB100 Laptop, a Mobile Notes E-Pen and a Sony DSC-SX30 camcorder and the winning group get £5000 towards their organisation to support further development of their winning idea.

All the documentation, guidance and resources are available on the website: www.reachingforgold.org.uk
