When Black is Red

Monika-Akila Richards joins Patience Agbabi and others on the 8th November 2010 in a Brighton showcase at KOMEDIA with some of the best emerging and vibrant black writers in the UK today.

Monika recently had her work selected for RED, an anthology that illustrates the diversity of Black British poetry and confirms that Black British poetry is a lively and defining force in Britain today.

Monika has infact been writing and performing her poetry since 1994. She was a founder member for “Sound Spectrum” theatre group as a playwright and performer and had her short story Eleven Years published by Penguin in an anthology True Tales of Mixed Heritage Experience: The Map of Me
